Catherine Dunn

I was born and raised in Taranaki, and later, the Bay of Islands. My adult life has largely been spent overseas. I studied at Claremont School of fine Art in Western Australia, majoring in Sculpture before getting married and having children. I have always tried to keep my hand in despite the challenges of a growing family and all their cafafal!
I enjoy the details of things, the small suprises and points of interest within an artwork. An unexpected bit of stitching, or one mark, splash of colour, or line that brings the whole thing together.
My recent work has begun to hover somewhere between painting and sculpture, incorporating textiles, mixed media, and various sculptural elements. I suspect this is the direction I will travel for a while as the overlapping disciplines of painting, sculpture, and collage inspire me.
